Safe Future training the teachers in Zaragoza, Spain

The SAFE FUTURE IN MOBILITY project’s train-the-teachers event, supported by Erasmus+, was organised in Zaragoza between 25 to 27 June.

Throughout three days of the programme, information seminars were held at the premises of Mobility City and Educatrafic road safety organisations, as well as at the IMASCONO offices, by representative partner organisations and selected trainers from each country.

The partner institutions were also given the opportunity to discuss the next steps that should be undertaken in order to ensure the dissemination of the educational materials produced in the educational environment, informing and equipping teachers with the necessary materials and tools developed under the SAFE FUTURE programme.

Since the third day of the training session focused on discussions, the first two days of the meeting were dedicated to information and presentation events for our teachers:

The first day of the Train-the-trainers meeting in Zaragoza, Spain.

Our trainers started by gaining insight into the active programmes of the Directorate General of Traffic in Zaragoza, mainly targeting youth road safety education.

Afterwards, they learned more about the Mobility City projects, objectives and activities as good practices and also visited the Mobility Museum.

On the second day of our train-the-teacher activity in Zaragoza, we spent the day at Educatrafic. Our participants had the opportunity to learn about the contents of our road safety training for secondary school students. The road safety sessions aim to provide practical road safety tools, to raise awareness among participants and to reduce accidents.

Road safety training at the Kondorosi Petőfi István School

On the 19th of June 2024, we provided road safety training for the senior students of the Kondoros Petőfi István Primary School (Kondorosi Petőfi István Általános Iskola).

During our road safety training, the students were divided into three groups, so that we were able to engage with them in an easy and more detailed way throughout each of our road safety workshops.

Road safety workshops:

☑️Drunken goggles and driver’s code fortune wheel, where playful teaching methods are used to explain the dangers of drunk driving.

🚗 Car simulators and video discussion, to promote legitimate and preventive driving.

🚲 Cycling simulator and cycling, discussing the risks of alcohol consumption.

We are grateful for the invitation by the school and the students’ attention and receptiveness!

Narrative report: Staff Mobility Transnational Meeting in Montpellier, April 8-12

From April 8 to 12, the representatives of Z Generációért Alapítvány (ZGA) participated in a detailed and immersive five-day staff mobility transnational meeting in Montpellier, France. The delegation included two representatives, one of whom was the foundation’s president. The meeting was hosted by our French partner, Ediser, and provided a comprehensive insight into various facets of road safety initiatives and technological advancements.

At Ediser’s facilities in Montpellier, we delved into their wide-ranged activities, including the provision of official driving license exam questions, publication of driving materials, and the production of cutting-edge driving simulators. A significant highlight was the demonstration of their in-house production of driving simulators. Participants were given the opportunity to try firsthand a range of simulators, from light vehicle simulations to specialized experiences for two-wheelers and individuals with disabilities – particularly noteworthy was the testing of the truck and bus simulators. Throughout the entire experience, Ediser representatives provided detailed insights into simulated driving challenges, corrective actions, and skill enhancement strategies. Additionally, we had the privilege of experiencing one of Ediser’s virtual reality software, designed to familiarize users with pre-driving checks for buses—a blend of familiar elements and new insights that added depth to our understanding.

Another significant aspect of the meeting was the deep dive into France’s road safety strategies, shedding light on initiatives undertaken since the 1990s to reduce road fatalities. Of particular interest was the governance structure, showcasing a dedicated interministerial position for road safety reporting to several ministers—a testament to the multifaceted impact of road safety on society and the economy. The presentation of communication and marketing tools further underscored Ediser’s proactive approach to promoting road safety awareness and their related products.

An integral part of the meeting was the visit to the local agency of the French Road Safety Association (Association Prévention Routière), a national ONG dedicated to promoting road safety, with local branches in each French department (administrative division of France). Here, participants gained firsthand knowledge of the association’s activities and operational strategies, with valuable insights into their nationwide and local operations. Of particular interest was the discussion surrounding the Cycling Challenge for children, a national event which showcased innovative collaborations between the association and local police to promote safe cycling skills among youth. Local police departments across France actively participate in organizing and overseeing the challenge in their respective communities.

eSAT-ongoing

eSAT involves youth organisations that are active at a grass-root level. They come outside the majorcities, including from rural areas and poor European regions, such as Northwest Bulgaria and Hajdú-Bihar in Hungary. Not well established at European level yet, the consortium aims to add a European
dimension to their regular activities through this cross-border cooperation. More specifically, the project will incorporate the European Union (EU) Youth Strategy 2019-2027 into their activities. Thus, the project is relevant to the current call scope.

STAY- ongoing

STAY aims to support the European (and global) efforts to decrease youth unemployment (Priority: Strenghten the employability of young people). Hence, young people will be given the option to “stay” in their homelands. To achieve its aim, the project will provide support and frameworks for young volunteers to become social entrepreneurs able to implement their social venture ideas.

Recycling and Upcycling = Sustainable communities?

The Recycling and Upcycling = Sustainable communities? project took place between April 20th-27th, 2016, in Berettyóújfalu, having 34 participants (out of which 23 were disadvantaged). Two countries were involved in the project: Romania and Hungary. The main topics of the exchange were the sustainable development, sustainable households (passive house, green cars), sustainable businesses, sustainable communities (local products), recycling, alternative energy, healthy lifestyle, sport. Exploring the main topics of the project allowed the participants

to actively engage in the community, to assume responsibility for the generation of the future. During the exchange, the participants made films about the 3 main topics of sustainable development: healthy lifestyle, sustainable households and active role assuming.

During the activities, the participants engaged in an intercultural dialogue with the local community (several ethnicities), a dialogue which contributes to the understanding of diversity. The virtual community also played a major role in this project, seeing that we promoted the animated films through most of the channels available (social networks, video sharing pages, eco-sites, etc.) By sharing the animated films through a wide range of virtual channels, the long-term impact of the program can move forward: on eco-sites, video sharing pages, social networks, etc. Thanks to this method, the message of the participants made short films reached a large number of persons. Furthermore, during the activities, the participants developed their creativity, sense of entrepreneurship and initiative, sense of social responsibility, ecofriendly behavior.

The working methods consisted mostly of presentations, combined with discussions at the round table, brainstorming, various workshops and field activities.

The intercultural activities (intercultural night, intercultural activities) facilitated the intercultural dialogue between the participants; the intercultural activities (for example, the questionnaire) indirectly facilitated the intercultural dialogue between the locals and the participants. The exchange contributed to the personal and social development of the young participants, facilitated the development of their key competencies, such as: communicating in a foreign language (English), social and civil competencies, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, cultural awareness.
